German has a word for everything, like ohrwurm. Translated literally as "earworm" in English, it's the word for songs that get stuck in your head and won't go away. What earworm of a song do you most dread burrowing into your head?

Wow, we have words for everything...didn't know that.
Alright...an Ohrwurm (or earworm) I most dread burrowing in my head is one of these old songs from the 30ties...by Comedian Harmonists or other singers. The other day my daughter came home with one of these songs, "Mein kleiner grüner Kaktus" by the Comedian Harmonists. They learned the song at school...and she sang it to me. I know most of these old songs, and so it stuck in my head. And when my husband started to sing it too, I wanted to press "format-c" for my memory!

And I fear those earworms where I don't know how that song is called or who sings that song..when you wake up by the radio in the morning, hearing a good song but being half-asleep you don't know what that song was all about...but you have to sing it the whole day long! And it makes me curious to find out, how that song is called. That happened to me during our last holidays, there was a party going on nearby and I was trying to get some sleep. And then that song came, everyone was singing but I couldn't understand the words because it was too far away. I just had the melody...and it stuck in my head. PLUS: I had no internet to search for it...so I had to wait and weeks later I found out: it was Narcotic!

But I love Ohrwürmer (that's the plural by the way) from the Beatles, they make me happy!
